On May 28, during INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon, Dnipro city will host a charity race “Winners” for the course of 2 km. This will be a second symbolic race, held within the running league Run Ukraine Running League 2017. Over the year, the race will be a part of five events in four cities of Ukraine: Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa and Lviv.
The purpose of the race is to raise funds for the purchase of limb prostheses for sports for ATO veterans that participate in the multimedia project “Winners” by TSN (news on Channel 1+1) and the magazine VIVA! Anyone can join the symbolic race for support. 50% of the entry fee will be sent to the purchase of prostheses for sports. During the first “Winners” race, held on April 9 as part of Kyiv half marathon, thanks to the caring participants, we raised 100 thousand UAH for sports prosthesis for Oleksii Avenasian who served in the 55th Artillery Brigade, Zaporizhzhia region; he was wounded in the Battle of Ilovaisk. The curator of the multimedia project “Winners” is Solomiia Vitvitska.
In 2017, the company Run Ukraine, organizer of Run Ukraine Running League 2017, became a sports partner of the “Winners” project. In addition to organizing the charity race, Run Ukraine works on developing a preparation program for races designed for ATO veterans.
“For those who participate in the Dnipro half marathon for the first time, the race of 2 km will be symbolic, since we no only invite you to make a first step towards great distances but also offer to support ATO veterans. We were able to do it in Kyiv and we believe that our heroes would also get support in Dnipro. We hope that the race “Winners” will help our warriors return to an active happy life they deserve”, – says Marketing and Communications Director of Run Ukraine Viktoriia Veremiienko.
The charity fundraising has become an integral part of running events by Run Ukraine, which any Ukrainian can join. It is possible to overcome the 2 km course even without special training.
Registration for the charity race “Winners” is open on the official website dniprohalfmarathon.org. For the second year in a row INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon is supported by the Dnipro City Council, Dnipro Athletics Federation and its president Maryna Filatova. This year’s event takes place within the Dnipro Mayor Boris Filatov’s program “Sports Capital”.
