The portrait of a prominent Ukrainian historian, archaeologist, folklorist and writer Dmytro Yavornytskyi will be displayed on the new finisher’s medals of the second international half marathon INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon, to be held on 28 May 2017. He was elected by the majority of Ukrainians in the online voting on the event website.
This year the organizers initiated a new design of the finisher’s medals, given the city’s history and famous people whose works changed Dnipro for the better. Thus, the participants of the event may learn more about the outstanding achievements of our people, see the nature and history of their city from a new perspective. Anyone could vote until March 28 at the link dniprohalfmarathon.org/golosuvannya/. The total of 131 voters participated.
The organizers offered to choose one candidate from among seven prominent townspeople of Dnipro, who glorified the city, whose names are known in Ukraine and beyond. The portrait image of Yavornytskyi received 42.22% of open national online votes. The second place went to a public figure, writer Oles Honchar.
This concept of voting for the person to be displayed on medals is used for all events of the Run Ukraine Running League in 2017.
Anyone can take part in the event choosing a course according to their level of training: 2, 5, 10 and 21 km or a relay race.
